UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Data and Information Sciences (SDIS) invites applications for a full-time Professor of the Practice in Data Science. The role provides academic leadership for the capstone experience in our online MADS and residential MS data science programs and serves as the MADS faculty lead.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in data science, statistics, computer science, or related field, or a master’s with substantial practice in data science.
• Strong record of graduate teaching and mentoring.
• Experience with online course delivery and client-facing projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate the delivery of the graduate capstone course, vet projects with external clients, oversee grading and communication.
• Teach DATA courses in the MADS program, including capstone, with other faculty.
• Serve on the Admissions Committee for MADS and contribute to admissions decisions.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure online program management meets academic standards.
• Oversee curriculum quality through feedback review and changes.
• Plan and participate in the optional on-campus immersion in summer.
• Lead virtual student recruitment sessions four times a year.
