Touro University Graduate School of Jewish Studies is seeking a full-time Professor of Jewish Studies (rank open) with a specialization in the Holocaust and Eastern European Jewish History. Ideal candidates will have publications and conference activity, and an active research program.

The role includes mentoring doctoral research and dissertations, teaching hybrid or Zoom courses, and contributing to graduate programs.

Qualificações

• Ph.D. in Holocaust Studies and Eastern European Jewish History.
• Fluency in languages relevant to research, including Yiddish.

Touro University Graduate School of Jewish Studies is seeking candidates for a full-time Professor of Jewish Studies (rank open) with a specialization in the Holocaust and in Eastern European Jewish History. Ideal candidates will already have contributed to the field, as evidenced by publications and lectures at academic conferences, and demonstrate promise of an ongoing and very active research program. Candidates will also possess excellent teaching skills, and the ability to mentor doctoral level research and doctoral dissertations. Faculty carry a 12-credit workload per ten-month long academic year, and are expected to teach, advise students, and engage in scholarship. Course load may be adjusted according to responsibility of faculty for directing dissertations of theses. Faculty are also expected to actively contribute to Graduate School programs, and to actively participate in school and university-wide committees. Through their scholarship and collegial networks faculty are expected to enhance the national and international reputation of the Graduate School of Jewish Studies. The mission of the Graduate School of Jewish Studies is to educate the next generation of scholars and educators in the field of Jewish studies and to train knowledgeable and highly skilled Jewish communal professionals. The School offers masters-level degrees with concentrations in Jewish history and Jewish education; the Ph.D. degree in Jewish history; and a joint Advanced Certificate in the management of non-profit institutions with Touro University Graduate School of Business. All courses are taught either hybrid or exclusively via Zoom, so students in the program hail from around the world.

• Build, strengthen, and support community relations.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have an earned Ph.D with specializations in Holocaust Studies and Eastern European Jewish History.
• Strong command of languages relevant to the candidate's research, including Yiddish required.
• Research and teaching experience commensurate with an appointment to a graduate faculty required.
• Experience guiding theses and dissertations preferred.Experience teaching hybrid courses required.>

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Familiarity in online learning platforms including Banner, Canvas, Blackboard, Adobe Connect required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook required.
• Proficiency in Zoom required.

Travel

• As needed to conferences.

Working Conditions

• Extensive use of computers.
• Some teaching at NYC campus at Times Square.

Maximum Salary

USD $125,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $100,000.00/Yr.
