Job summary

William & Mary invites applications for a tenured Professor position in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-intensive research with broad societal impact. The candidate will lead a thriving research program, teach NLP and AI courses, and mentor students, while developing curricula around generative AI; appointments begin August 2027.

Required PhD by Aug 10, 2027, with a proven record of funded research and international visibility.

Qualifications

• PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field by Aug 10, 2027.
• Track record of externally funded research and scholarly achievement.
• Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
• International visibility in AI/Data Science research community.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a vibrant externally funded and internationally recognized research program.
• Teach courses in natural language processing and other AI-related topics.
• Contribute to emergent curriculum around generative artificial intelligence.
• Provide mentorship to Master’s and Ph.D. students.
