Job summary

The School of Pharmacy invites applications for a professorial role in teaching and research. The appointee will design and deliver teaching, lead curriculum development, and mentor postgraduate researchers.

Responsibilities include conducting scholarly activity, seeking external funding, and contributing to departmental governance. A strong record in publication, grant capture, and collaboration with external partners is required.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy PhD from a recognized university.
• Eight years of relevant teaching experience.
• First degree must be a Pharmacy degree.
• SCOPUS h-index of at least 16.
• Graduate: at least 3 PhD students; 10 papers in major journals in last 5 years.
• Secured research grants as PI worth RM300,000–RM400,000.
• Evidence of coaching/mentoring and high presentation skills.
• Experience in curriculum development and use of IT in teaching.

Responsibilities

• Undertake teaching and related duties including design, preparation, and development of teaching materials; conduct classes/lectures, tutorials, and practicals; consultation with students, invigilation, marking, and assessment.
• Participate and contribute to high-quality programme and curriculum development
• Plan and implement teaching strategies to optimise student learning as well as to motivate them.
• Support in research project work and scholarship of postgraduate students
• Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University’s teaching and learning expectations.
• Participate in scholarly activities, including undertaking research, conference presentations, journal publications, and relevant community work.
• Support efforts to secure grants for research activities and scholarships as co-researcher.
• Achieve the specified set of research outcome targets for the Professor level of appointment.
• Undertake and contribute to administrative responsibilities such as attending departmental meetings, participating in committees, and working groups within the Department, School, and Faculty
• Participate in continuous relevant professional activities
• Assist in establishing linkages with external organisations/ professional bodies in academic-related matters

REQUIREMENTS

• Possess a doctoral degree in Pharmacy, from a recognized university, with expertise in industrial pharmacy, drug design and development, regulation of pharmaceuticals for undergraduate teaching with at least eight (8) years of relevant teaching experience.
• Candidate first degree mustbe aPharmacy degree
• Preferably with SCOPUS h-index of min 16
• Graduated at least 3 PhD studentsPublished 10 papers in in C.I. journal (ISI, SCOPUS, Clarivate) in the last 5 years
• Secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth min RM300,000 – RM400,000
• Possess at least at least 1 Intellectual Property (IP) in the form of patents, copyrights or trademarks
• Experience working in higher education environment and a track record of teaching experience and professional knowledge of curriculum development or good record ofprofessional experience with evidence of coaching and mentoring and a high quality of presentation skills
• Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including the effective use of IT technologies in the facilitation of teaching and learning
• Experience working on research projects and activities or experience of professional practice/consultancy work, including evidence of appropriate outputs
• Demonstrated links to relevant external organisations and/or the profession
