Department Overview

The HDFS department is highly collaborative and research-oriented, offering undergraduate and graduate programs in early childhood development and education, with faculty engaged in community projects and professional development initiatives.

Position Summary

This role involves leading UNCG's Child Care Education Program, overseeing curriculum, staff, and compliance, and serving as a liaison with the community. The faculty member will also teach courses and support departmental service.

Responsibilities
  1. Administer the childcare program, including curriculum, policies, staff oversight, family engagement, enrollment, budgeting, accreditation, and community outreach.
  2. Partner with faculty to teach courses in early childhood education and support teacher preparation programs.
  3. Contribute to departmental and professional service activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Development, or related field (by July 1, 2025).
  • Experience with young children, families, or adult learners; North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential Level III or eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing early childhood programs, especially NAEYC accredited ones.
  • Budget management experience, especially with multiple funding sources.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Teaching or administrative experience in higher education.
