Job Opening: Full-Time Evenings/Night Shift Professional Staff Nurse - Observation Unit

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a dedicated Professional Staff Nurse for the Observation Unit, working full-time during evening and night shifts.

Role and Responsibilities

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for setting standards of care, managing patient activities, and ensuring quality care through independent judgment and collaboration. This role involves leadership, partnership, and supervision, establishing collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The nurse demonstrates commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain productive relationships, demonstrate accountability, cultural sensitivity, and promote safe work hours and lifestyle. Communicate safety hazards promptly.
2. Apply adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and staff. Support development of colleagues and serve as a preceptor when applicable.
3. Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment, formulate daily goals, and develop holistic care plans. Communicate effectively, document comprehensively, and promote safety and quality improvements.
4. Take responsibility for professional growth, participate in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives, and support change management. Engage actively with the care team to enhance patient care and practice environment.
