This position is open only to Colorado state residents.
An eligible list established with this recruitment may be used to fill other similar positions within the Colorado Department of Public Safety in the next 12 months.
While the full salary range for this position is listed, employees are normally hired towards the lower end of the range.
This position is expected to be fully remote depending on the successful candidate's location. If located in the Denver/Lakewood area Hybrid may be required.

ABOUT THE WORK UNIT

The mission of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) is to serve and safeguard the people and protect the property, resources, environment, and quality of life in Colorado. The Division safeguards the public through fire prevention and code enforcement; wildfire preparedness, response, suppression, coordination, and management; training and certification; public information and education; and technical assistance to local governments.

The Professional Qualifications and Training (PQT) Section of DFPC is responsible for education and training programs for firefighters, hazardous materials responders, and emergency responders.

ABOUT THE JOB

This position is responsible for supervising the regional training officers in each of the four quadrants of the state and designing and implementing strategies and processes for training and education aspects of fire suppression, hazardous materials, fire prevention, specialized rescue operations, and other related topics. Position provides technical assistance, consultation and training to fire service personnel on a statewide basis. The position assists in the development, delivery, coordination and tracking of multiple DFPC and cooperator trainings and exercises.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to nine (9) years.
  • Possess DFPC Certifications in the following (please make sure to upload copies of your certifications with your application):
    • Fire Instructor I;
    • Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations (or Operations); AND
    • Firefighter II

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Current valid driver's license at time of hire, and must obtain a Colorado-issued driver's license within 6 months of hire.
  • This position will operate a pool car to travel to meetings around the state.
  • Applicants must be willing to be fingerprinted, successfully pass a polygraph, and medical certification including drug screen as a condition of hire.
