Qualifications

  • Experience with victim services, knowledge of safety planning and lethality assessments, and knowledge of Kansas law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advocacy services for victims of all crime to help reduce effects of victimization.
  • Perform crisis intervention services and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with 60-minute on-scene response.
  • Provide death notifications and act as liaison with investigators; accompany victims to detective interviews.
  • Refer victims to community services and provide advocacy to law enforcement personnel.
  • Maintain trauma process education, log contacts, and attend community or collaborative meetings.
  • Develop and conduct educational presentations/trainings and fulfill law enforcement verification requests as needed.

Job description

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Responsibilities:
  • The response advocate will provide advocacy services for victims of all crime to help overcome the effects of victimization.
  • performs crisis intervention services.
  • /participate in a 24/7 on call rotation and required to response on scene in 60mins.
  • provides death notifications.
  • acts as liaison with investigators.
  • accompanies victims to detective interviews.
  • refers victims to services in community.
  • provides advocacy services and support to law enforcement personnel.
  • maintains education and training for trauma process and critical incident response.
  • logs all contact with victims via data input and tracking of contacts/services provided.
  • attends community/collaborative meetings as assigned.
  • assists with developing and conducting educational presentations/trainings.
  • Additionally, the Advocate will fulfill the Law Enforcement Verification requests submitted by the Attorney General’s Crime Victims Compensation Division.
  • This position is not-Spanish-speaking required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of related program experience;
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, experience with victim services, knowledge of lethality assessments and safety planning, excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of Kansas law and criminal justice process.
  • The position also requires the ability to multitask and manages deadlines, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to work independently, be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Will be required to attend 40- hour Kansas Academy for Victim Assistance within 18 months of hire date.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.

Salary: $21.86 - 28.58 per hour
