Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. seeks a Professional Mechanical Engineer to join our West Region team in Colorado.

You will lead HVAC and plumbing projects from concept through construction, acting as the mechanical lead and the engineer of record on building and facility endeavors. You will coordinate with architects, owners, and internal disciplines, produce Revit construction documents, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states.
  • Colorado licensure preferred, or ability to obtain via comity soon after hire.
  • Ability to run projects independently and deliver complete HVAC and plumbing designs.
  • Strong experience in ASHRAE-based design and related codes.
  • Revit proficiency required; production-level modeling expected.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and ability to lead coordination discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record for building/projects, owning quality, schedule and delivery.
  • Produce HVAC and plumbing designs and construction documents in Revit with minimal oversight.
  • Coordinate design with architects, owners and interior disciplines (electrical, structural, civil, process).

SEH is hiring a **Mechanical Engineer** to be a foundational hire for our West Region team in Colorado. This role is ideal for an engineer who can manage projects independently and confidently serve as the mechanical lead from concept through construction.You will step into a high-autonomy seat where you can operate as the mechanical lead: scoping work, engaging clients, coordinating with design teams, producing complete construction documents in Revit, and supporting construction administration.This is also a growth role. As the West Region team expands, this position has the opportunity to evolve into a Project Manager and people leader role as skills and interest align. **This Opportunity*** Serve as the **Mechanical Engineer of Record** on building and facility projects, owning quality, schedule, and delivery.* Produce HVAC and plumbing designs and construction documents in Revit with minimal oversight.* Coordinate design with architects, owners, and internal disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and process.* Conduct site visits and in-person client meetings at project locations generally in the West Region and occasionally throughout the country.* Communicate directly with clients and project stakeholders, translating needs into practical, buildable solutions.* Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.* Help shape how we deliver work in the West Region by improving standards, templates, and workflows as the team grows.* Provide mentorship and technical guidance as staff are added. **Essential Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.* Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states required. + Colorado licensure preferred, or ability to obtain Colorado licensure through comity soon after hire.* Demonstrated ability to run projects independently and deliver complete HVAC and plumbing designs.* Strong consulting experience designing to ASHRAE and relevant mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes.* Revit proficiency is required. Design and production support are available; however, production-level capability in modeling and construction documentation is expected.* Client-facing communication skills, including the ability to lead coordination conversations and present recommendations clearly.* Ability to travel for occasional site visits and fieldwork.* Live within daily commuting distance of the SEH Denver Office.* Work from home is acceptable; however, the candidate must be willing to work in the office as needed for team collaboration. **Preferred Qualifications*** Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed PE.* Commissioning experience, including functional testing support, issue resolution, and closeout coordination.* Project experience in one or more of the following facility types or service areas: + Commercial + Municipal + Multifamily + Water and wastewater facilities + Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) and/or capital planning* Experience leading small to mid-size projects through construction with strong ownership of schedule and quality.* Interest and aptitude for growth into project management and managerial roles, including mentoring and team-building.**Who We Are**Better Places.
