Job summary

Hiscox is seeking a Temporary Contract Complex Claims Specialist—Professional Liability to handle mid- to high-severity Professional Liability claims across Allied Healthcare, Architects & Engineers, and Miscellaneous Professional Liability matters. The role is an individual contributor for a defined assignment with possible extensions.

You'll coordinate with internal and external partners, draft coverage letters, and drive litigation strategy from inception to resolution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Professional Liability and/or Specialty claims-handling experience.
• JD from an ABA accredited law school may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experience.
• Proven ability to positively affect complex claims outcomes through investigation, negotiation and effectively leading litigation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Advanced knowledge of Professional Liability coverage principles and coverage analysis across lines.
• Advanced knowledge of the litigation process and negotiation skills.
• B.A./B.S. degree required, JD optimal.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts and resolves complex mid- to high-severity Professional Liability claims in all phases of litigation.
• Drafts complex coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters.
• Reviews and analyzes claim documentation and legal filings.
• Drives litigation defense strategy on litigated files.
• Documents claim files with relevant documentation in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Identifies emerging exposures and cross-line issues affecting portfolios.
• Identifies suspected fraudulent claims and coordinates with special investigations unit.
