Job summary

Civilworks is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to conduct boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys and to provide accurate field data and detailed reports. Travel to Dover, NH and nearby offices will be required as part of project work.

The ideal candidate holds NH LLS or ME PLS (or LSIT with progress toward licensure within 12 months), works independently or within a team, and communicates clearly while adhering to surveying standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Land Surveyor (LLS) in New Hampshire and/or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Maine OR LSIT with applicable work experience and licensing eligibility within 12 months.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys.
  • Use standard/robotic total stations, GPS, and data collectors for field data collection.
  • Research deeds/records and ensure data accuracy.
  • Process field data to meet standards and regulations.
  • Analyze data to make boundary decisions and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers and clients to ensure project success.
  • Estimate project costs and prepare proposals/billing.
  • Oversee survey office staff and mentor junior staff.

Job Objective

The Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is responsible for conducting land surveys, measurements, and assessments to support various land development projects. He/she will work closely with engineers and other staff as part of a team.

Essential Functions

The following functions are considered essential to the successful performance of this position.

  • Perform boundary surveys, ALTA surveys and topographic surveys
  • Utilize surveying instruments, such as standard and robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors, to collect accurate field data.
  • Proficient in deed/records research
  • Process survey field data to ensure compliance with standards
  • Analyze survey data and research to make boundary decisions
  • Prepare detailed reports, plans, and drawings.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project success
  • Estimate project costs and prepare proposals
  • Prepare and review project billing
  • Oversee survey office staff; provide mentoring to junior staff
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and surveying standards.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Travel between Dover, NH, South Berwick, ME, Alton, NH offices and job sites required
  • Full-time presence required
  • Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Licensed Land Surveyor (LLS) in New Hampshire and/or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Maine OR LSIT with applicable work experience and licensing eligibility within 12 months.
