The City of Republic seeks a Professional Land Surveyor to protect city land interests and oversee surveys in rights-of-way, easements, and plats. You will research deeds, prepare boundary documents, and supervise survey data integration into GIS.

Performs duties as a Professional Land Surveyor in matters of land in a confidential and non-biased manner. Protects the City’s interest in matters of real property, facilitates the use and/or provides oversight of any activity within right-of-ways, easements, alleys, etc., pursuant to City Codes and applicable Missouri State Statutes.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer and general supervision of the Community Development Director.
A minimum of five (5) years of prior experience as a Professional Land Surveyor is required, inclusive of responsible operation of modern survey instruments, data collectors, GPS, drafting and data conversion software.
Must be able to perform at a professional level in a highly specialized field dealing with property rights in an unbiased manner; Must have a working knowledge of the Missouri State Statutes and current Missouri Minimum Standards of Boundary Surveys; Must be able to read and interpret easements, property descriptions, plats, plans, surveys and blueprints as well as construction drawings; Must be able to analyze and interpret a variety of technical, legal and abstract variables and arrive at a constructive nonbiased solution; Must be able to perform an array of mathematical processes such as algebra, geometry, geodesy, random error analysis and coordinate adjustment, spherical and plane trigonometry; Must be able to operate computers for word processing, spreadsheets, data base, data conversion and drafting software, programmable calculator, GPS, total station, data collector, as well as other office machines; Must possess the ability to work on projects in a confidential manner when needed; Ability to communicate with the public, other employees, other agencies, consultants, and contractors by telephone, email and in person; Ability to work on private property and deal with property owners in a respectful manner; Must be able to analyze a situation, solve problems and make decisions under pressure in area of responsibility;

Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching to both ground level and overhead as required; must be able to reach, hold, and grip; lifts and carries up to 25 pounds; pushes and pulls up to 50 pounds; must possess the manual dexterity to use a computer keyboard and mouse; may be sitting for long periods of time; must be able to walk, sit or stand for prolonged periods.
May be exposed to extreme weather, dust, pollen, noxious weed, toxic fumes, chemicals or smoke, contagious diseases, electrical or mechanical hazards, extreme noise, heavy equipment, heavy traffic, rough terrain, wild / domestic animals and insects; May work in awkward positions such as climbing fences, crawling in/on confined places both natural and manmade with poor ventilation and no natural lighting.
