Qualifications

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor in one of the below posting locations. In this role, qualified candidates will oversee Boundary and Topographical Surveys, Construction Layouts, Subdivision Plats, Right of Way Plats, Parcel Legal Descriptions & exhibits, and ALTA / ACSM Land Title Surveys.

Professional Land Surveyor Duties :

  • Responsible for the Survey group's organization, work schedules, resource assignments / needs, equipment maintenance / use, and the efficiency of the group to produce quality work.
  • Responsible for overseeing all Survey activities including topographic surveys, preparation of ALTA surveys, plats, legal descriptions, exhibits, right-of-way maps, as-builts, and other deliverables.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to company safety rules and requirements.
  • Assists in analyzing needs for annual budgeting (staff, equipment, software, etc.)
  • Assists in the development of yearly business plans.
  • Assists in the hiring and / or replacement staff specific to the discipline.
  • Assists in the training and development of staff.
  • Ensures that staff are achieving utilization goals.
  • Leads the preparation of SOQs, SOWs, and Fee Proposals.
  • Lead Business Development and Marketing efforts in support of the company.
  • Lead Meetings and training opportunities with the Team.
  • Coordinates with other surveyors for project resources and staff assignments.
  • Directs / reviews fieldwork performed for assigned projects.
  • Directs / reviews staff in the performance of assigned projects.
  • Keeps Principal and manager informed of production status and issues.
  • Serves as the Main Point of Contact with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Coordinates technical requirements with the project team.
  • Manages and reviews the performance of projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Coordinates resources with the project team, as necessary
  • Reduce field notes and check reductions and calculations made by others.
  • Reviews and Provides Comments / Recommendations to Practice Leader before Final Signatures
  • Reviews and Negotiates Contracts while coordinating with Principal & manager
  • Monitors accounting items such as Project AR, WIP, and Cost to Complete.
  • Reduces field notes and check reductions and calculations made by others.
  • Utilizes CAD platforms to manage projects, produce drawings, and provide client deliverables as necessary to hit client deadlines.

Specific Requirements include :

  • Licensure : 5+ years as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor with a license in the state of Texas required.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Station and Data Collectors.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, and / or MicroStation (ORD).
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with coordinate geometry, transformations, scale factors, projections, static GPS post-processing and some GIS.
  • Experience in applying 3D scanning, aerial mapping, satellite photography, and drone technology to projects.
  • Experience performing boundary research
  • Familiarity with construction staking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and possesses strong communication skills.
  • Ability to organize field notes.
  • Ability to read construction plans.
  • Ability to travel if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Drone and Scanner experience a plus.
  • Licensed in additional states or ability to become licensed as needed.
