Job Title: Professional Fee Coder – Cardiology

Location (City, State): Remote – Must reside in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, or Michigan

Pay: $26 – $31+/hour (Flexibility for highly qualified candidates)

About Our Client:

Addison Group is partnering with a well-established academic healthcare organization to help grow their coding team. This client is focused on delivering high-quality, compliant billing and coding services across a range of outpatient and specialty care areas. They are seeking a highly skilled coding professional to support cardiology services in a fully remote capacity.

Job Description:

The Professional Fee Coder will be responsible for accurately coding cardiology clinic visits and procedures, managing charge reviews and denials, and maintaining compliance with all coding regulations for a large teaching hospital. The role requires independence, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills for provider interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Code professional services for cardiology outpatient visits and procedures (e.g., Echos, EKGs, Stress Tests)
  • Perform full abstraction for both E&M and procedural coding
  • Handle charge reviews, edits, and denials (approx. 30% of role)
  • Draft written coding queries to providers, based on documentation review
  • Support occasional outpatient pediatric visit coding
  • Cross-check technical and professional coding for consistency when needed
  • Maintain productivity targets (60 accounts/day) and a minimum 95% accuracy rate
  • Use EPIC and follow updated E&M and teaching facility guidelines
  • Participate in quarterly coding audits
Qualifications:
  • AHIMA or AAPC certification required (e.g., CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in professional fee coding
  • Strong background in cardiology coding highly preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR
  • Understanding of outpatient procedures and pediatric coding
  • Skilled in denial management and charge reconciliation
  • Familiarity with 2021+ E&M guidelines
  • Strong written communication skills for query documentation
Additional Details:
  • Work Arrangement: Fully remote (residency in IL, IN, WI, or MI required)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST preferred
  • Interview Process:
    • Resume review
    • Proctored coding assessment (90 minutes, 85% to pass)
    • Interview with Coding Manager and Director
  • Timeline: Hiring ASAP, with decisions made quickly following assessment/interviews
