Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Project Manager / Professional Structural Engineer to lead heavy industrial projects and coordinate multi-discipline design work. The role requires a structural emphasis in Civil Engineering and a PE license, with 5–15 years of relevant experience.

You will mentor junior staff, develop client relationships, and contribute to proposals and fee estimates while traveling to client sites and meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer with 5-15 years of experience designing buildings and building-type structures.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and precast concrete design.
• Experience coordinating structural designs with multi-discipline teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with teams and clients.
• Ability to follow design standards and QA procedures.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for meetings, client consultations, site inspections.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers (EIT, PE).
• Experience with heavy industrial or mining projects.
• Experience with proposals and fee estimates.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of heavy industrial projects from concept to completion.
• Coordinate structural design work with multi-discipline teams.

• Mentor junior engineers and engineers-in-training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer with 5-15 years of previous experience designing buildings and building type structures and preparing plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong working knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and precast concrete design.
• Extensive experience working in a team environment and coordinating structural designs with multi-discipline teams.
• Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills with project team members and clients.
• Proven ability to follow design standards and quality assurance procedures.
• Ability to travel up to 20% for team meetings, client consultations, site inspections, etc. Much of this travel is clients local in the area.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage your technical knowledge to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced structural engineering professionals (ie. EIT, recent PE).
• Experience working with heavy industrial or mining projects.
• Ability to effectively respond to and manage client communications and relationships.
• Previous business development experience, including preparation of proposals and fee estimates.
