The ideal candidate has 20+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience, PE licensure, and strong leadership and mentoring skills, with expertise in ITS, traffic operations, safety studies, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering required.
• PE licensure with ability to obtain Utah and surrounding states licensure.
• 20+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience preferred.
• Experience mentoring staff and performing technical reviews.
• PTOE, RSP1, RSP2, or related certifications are a plus.

Professional Engineer – Sr Traffic Engineering Lead

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

J-U-B ENGINEERS, inc. is seeking a Professional Engineer - Senior Traffic Engineering Lead to join our Transportation Services Group in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position will serve as a senior technical leader supporting traffic and transportation projects throughout J-U-B’s footprint, including Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Wyoming.

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced traffic engineering professional who excels in technical delivery, quality management, staff mentorship, and solving complex transportation challenges. Experience in transportation safety, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic operations, or emerging transportation technologies is desirable.

What You’ll Do

• Provide senior technical leadership for traffic engineering and transportation projects.
• Lead quality control and quality assurance reviews.
• Mentor and develop engineers, EITs, and technical staff.
• Lead and support traffic operations, safety studies, corridor planning, traffic impact analyses, and design projects.
• Develop processes, technical documents, and reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across J-U-B offices.
• Develop scopes of work, contracts, schedules, and budgets for projects.
• Contribute expertise in transportation safety, ITS, traffic operations, signing and striping, or emerging transportation technologies.
• Participate in client meetings and support project pursuits as opportunities arise.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and ability to obtain Utah and surrounding states licensure.
• 20+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience performing technical reviews and mentoring staff.
• Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with transportation safety programs, ITS, traffic operations and modeling, or related specialty areas is highly desirable.
• PTOE, RSP1, RSP2, or other transportation-related certifications are a plus.
