Job summary

Horrocks in Spokane, WA is seeking a Professional Engineer for Roadway to design and analyze freeways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails with a team. The role emphasizes growth toward project management or technical specialization, with mentorship and diverse project exposure.

This position offers a competitive base salary from $125,000 to $160,000 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, generous PTO, a 401(k) with 50% match up to 6%,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• 5 years of roadway transportation engineering experience
• Experience on multidisciplinary project teams
• Bentley civil design software proficiency preferred
• Knowledge of WSDOT/ITD standards and plan preparation procedures

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze freeways, interstates highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
• Lead roadway design discipline and coordinate with other design disciplines under a Project Manager
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub-consultant management
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Design and analysis freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
• Work under the direction of a Project Manager to lead the roadway design discipline and to coordinate and integrate the other associated design disciplines on projects
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub consultant management
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• 5 years of experience in roadway transportation engineering
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
• Proficiency using Bentley civil design software is preferred
• Knowledge of WSDOT/ITD standards and plan preparation procedures
• Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment
