Project Overview
This is a 12-month full-time project based in Albany, NY.

Role: Professional Engineer (Civil/Transportation) - Inspection Oversight

Under the supervision of the Engineer in charge of the Bureau of Asset Management, the incumbent will be responsible for the structural inspections of various civil infrastructure assets, including locks, bridges, buildings, roads, retaining walls, water control structures, breakwaters, guide structures, culverts, multiuse trails, within their assigned region.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  1. Ensure staff and consultant inspections comply with the Corporation’s Structure Inspection Manual.
  2. Collaborate with the Director of Asset Management to update and improve the Structure Inspection Manual.
  3. Oversee the Structural/Safety inventory in the assigned region.
  4. Review and approve inspection reports.
  5. Coordinate scheduling and prioritization of structural inspections.
  6. Maintain knowledge of current standards, laws, and regulations related to civil infrastructure inspection.
  7. Prepare reports, plans, and details supporting inspection assignments.
  8. Conduct field work as necessary for canals inspection programs.
  9. Partner with other areas to drive Inspection Improvement Initiatives and recommend policy improvements.
  10. Promote continuous safety improvements for civil infrastructure.
  11. Participate in the Drone Program in various roles.
  12. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum one year of Professional Engineering experience related to transportation projects such as highways, bridges, airports, waterways, or traffic management and safety systems. Candidates with mechanical or electrical experience are encouraged to apply.
