The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Office of Financial Assistance (OFA) in Reno is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to assist drinking water, wastewater, and storm water systems in funding capital improvement projects.
The role includes reviewing and ranking projects, evaluating preliminary engineering reports, plans and specifications, and overseeing contracts and construction to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements; site visits are required.
This position is with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Office of Financial Assistance (OFA) located in the Reno office. The OFA administers the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, and the Nevada Capital Improvements Grant Program. This position will assist drinking water, wastewater, and storm water systems, both publicly owned and privately owned, in funding capital improvement projects to either come into compliance with regulations or maintain their infrastructure. Primary duties will include reviewing and ranking projects as well as the review of preliminary engineering reports, plans and design specifications for projects funded through the program, contracts related to bid solicitation, construction change orders and financial draw requests. The position will provide oversight during the entire construction process to ensure expenditures follow federal and state requirements. This position will also need to complete site visits of all funded projects.
Licensed professional engineers engage in the practice of professional engineering which includes, but is not limited to, professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or responsibility for supervision of construction or operations in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment, and projects wherein the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property is concerned. Duties and responsibilities require independent control and direction, and the use of initiative, skill and judgment applied to the research or design of professional engineering work. All positions in this series require licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
