Position Summary

Work closely with Director of the Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning (CHPLL) and the Coordinator of Continuing Education for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education activities within the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions (KCNHP).

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the director and coordinators in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities.
  • Design innovative programs, maintain and revise materials, and facilitate/teach programs including, but not limited to synchronous and asynchronous programming.
  • Serve as an active member of the planning committees in identification of content experts, speakers, reviewers, and others to provide high-quality continuing educational activities.
  • Communicate with participants, attendees, planning committee members, instructors, speakers, content experts, and other programs to facilitate adult learning and resolve issues, as necessary.
  • Assure a needs assessment is completed for each continuing education activity.
  • Assure the target audience identified is appropriate for the content presented.
  • Work with staff to assure all forms required from the planning committee, presenters, and reviewers of continuing education activity have been completed correctly and are consistent with accreditation guidelines.
  • Review forms from planning committee for conflict of interest. If found, follow procedure for mitigation and disclosure.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of assigned programs, gather feedback from participants, and make data-driven improvements to enhance program outcomes.
  • Compile evaluation data to share with planning committee, presenters, and other members of the CHPLL.
  • Analyze data and submit activity report as needed for Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JA-PARS).
  • Participate in marketing efforts by organizing items and setting up a display table for conferences and creating website advertising.
  • Conduct literature reviews in collaboration with USI's Library on program topics, as necessary.
  • Monitor nursing and health-related trends evidence-based guidelines to ensure incorporation into continuing education activities.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that adhere to accreditation guidelines and other credentialing organizations criteria for continuing education.
  • Participate in writing the self-study and other accreditation requirements. and updates necessary for accreditation agency.
  • Maintain active communication with Director and Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a Health-related field or education required.
  • Current unencumbered Indiana License if a healthcare practitioner.
  • Time Management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with faculty, students, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Must possess valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record as defined by USI's Vehicle Safety Policy (https://handbook.usi.edu/vehicle-safety-policy).
Functional Requirements
  • Remaining in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for extended periods of time for the majority of assigned duties.
  • Occasional physical access to meetings, presentations and events that occur at on-campus sites such as classrooms and meeting rooms, and at various sites throughout the local and regional community. May require extensive physical activity with some events to oversee activities, to set up and make presentations, and to interact with attendees.
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (hardware and software) to set up functions, to enter data, to retrieve data, and to create documents and presentations. Ability to retrieve information from written documents and from computer-generated reports.
  • Occasional independent physical manipulation of loads up to 35 pounds for preparation of events.
  • Effective problem solving and the presentation of a consistently professional demeanor while meeting deadlines and achieving critical outcomes, even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities and short-notice deadlines.
Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional extended or irregular hours, including early mornings, weekends, and evenings, may be required due to the nature of on-line education and to support educational activities.
  • Frequent local travel to meetings; occasional travel in and out of state may be required.

About the College

The faculty in the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions work collaboratively with nursing and other health care professional faculty. The support for faculty's teaching, practice and scholarship activities are substantially enhanced through grants and other extramural funding. A cutting-edge Clinical Simulation Center is used to enhance student learning and support innovative teaching.

The college, in addition to university support, has a four-person technology team that supports the online and in-classroom teaching for the MSN and DNP program courses.
