Overview

The Nurse Educator assists department leaders in providing safe, quality patient care and professional practice. The role functions as an expert, educator, leader, and scientist to support hospital initiatives, regulatory compliance, employee safety, and efficiencies.

Key responsibilities include leading program initiatives, developing and teaching educational programs such as onboarding, in‑service, and continuing education, and consulting with department leaders on professional and performance development.

What you will do
  • Promote quality patient care by serving as a resource to department leaders and hospital administration regarding evidence‑based practices.
  • Provide education to employees based on training needs and maintain competency in professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate cost‑effective educational programs for employees, patients, families, and the community.
  • Identify specific needs and develop plans to enhance employee development.
  • Teach in both formal and informal settings using appropriate methodology and strategies.
  • Mentor students, interns, and employees.
  • Develop clinical competencies that align with performance criteria, evidence‑based practice, and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion change within clinical practice and integrate research and regulatory requirements into educational programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with staff, colleagues, and the community.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with C‑I‑CARE Standards of the Hospital.
Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effectively interact with staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Manage time and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and self‑driven skills.
  • Understanding of safety, security, and Joint Commission standards.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in a clinical nursing setting.
  • 1–2 years in planning educational programs and/or teaching in the assigned clinical area.
  • Participation in professional nursing organizations.
  • Additional AHA Certification (role dependent).
  • Specialty or Nurse Professional Development certification.
Licenses and Certifications

Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.

Base Pay Scale

Generally starting at $65.93–$89.63 per hour, based on experience, education, specialty, and training.
