Job description

Registered Nurse Clinical Educator

Clinical Practice and Education team member responsible for coordinating and implementing staff education, orientation, and competency validation across all clinical specialties within Stanford Medicine Partners.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform educational activities that promote the competency and development of Stanford Medicine Partners staff, including orientation, competency validation, remediation, in‑service, and continuing education.
  • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs in response to health care demands, trends, identified learning needs, organizational and clinic goals, quality improvement measures, risk management, regulatory changes, and compliance criteria.
  • Design educational offerings (courses, simulations, programs) using adult education principles and learning styles.
  • Direct the delivery of education for new employee orientation, conduct competency assessments, and facilitate ongoing development.
  • Establish courses and programs based on annual needs assessments and educational compliancy requirements.
  • Facilitate a welcoming, supportive environment for new associates.
  • Coordinate market education opportunities to deploy system programs and initiatives, ensuring adoption of company standards, clinical best practices, and electronic health record documentation.
  • Collaborate with local and system leadership to determine market‑specific educational needs to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
  • Deliver education activities that validate, develop, maintain, and enhance the knowledge and skills of clinical staff.
  • Maintain educational and competency records.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with various internal and external groups, including clinical and support staff, other departments, clinical management, and Stanford Medicine Partners clinical educators.
  • Promote staff competency and elevate clinical practice to deliver high quality care.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (may be in progress).
  • Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of recent clinical experience.
  • Clinical education experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of clinical nursing, current trends, safety precaution policies, equipment, electronic health records management software, accrediting agency standards, and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Understanding of adult teaching/learning theories and program assessment, design, and evaluation processes.
  • General knowledge of the scope of practice, evidence‑based practices, the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Patients' Bill of Rights.
  • Attention to detail with time management and organization skills and the ability to work independently and with initiative.
  • Solid written and public‑speaking skills, including the ability to communicate medical, technical, or sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing, presentation, and email software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook) and a working understanding of SharePoint, Adobe Captivate, HealthStream, and Epic.
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Prioritize and delegate assignments under varied and urgent conditions while working within standardized procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across departments, clinics, and organization boundaries.
Licenses and Certifications
  • CA‑RN (Registered Nurse)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
Physical Demands and Work Conditions

Constant sitting; occasional walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and twisting. Frequent hand use, repetitive motion, and grasping. Frequent pushing and pulling, reaching above shoulder level, and twisting and turning (neck and waist). Lifting 0–10 lbs frequently; 11–20 lbs frequently; 21–30 lbs occasionally; 31–40 lbs occasionally; >40 lbs seldom. Frequent driving, including personal vehicle to sites. Work around equipment and machinery; occasional exposure to biohazards, bloodborne pathogens, and hospital waste. Minimal exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, and uneven ground.

Travel Requirements

20% travel.

Salary

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $67.70 – $89.71 per hour.
