Job summary

Florida Parishes Human Services Authority in Denham Springs, Louisiana is seeking a Professional Counselor to provide clinical assessment and treatment for adults and children with mental health needs, substance use disorders, and related conditions. • Must possess a current Louisiana license to practice as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) or Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT) and have one year of licensed counseling experience.
• Substance abuse treatment experience or passing the ADC, AADC, or EMAC exam at appointment time is recommended.

• Completes intake and psychosocial evaluations for adults, contributing to diagnosis and treatment planning with an interdisciplinary team.
• Prepares correspondence and reports with other agencies regarding a client's care.
• May provide crisis evaluation and specialized treatment for individuals in acute distress.

We are looking for a Professional Counselor to provide clinical assessment and treatment of clients with various mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, medication-assisted treatment, and high-risk patients in crisis. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) or a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT) plus one year of licensed counseling experience.

Job Duties

• Completes intake and psychosocial evaluations primarily for adults and some aftercare individuals, which includes providing technical and clinical input on diagnosis and treatment in interdisciplinary staff consultation with staff prescribers to establish an individual's treatment plan for each individual in treatment.
• Completes correspondence, written reports, and other communications with other agencies regarding an individual's care.
• May provide crisis evaluation for individuals who are in acute distress as indicated by a family member, coroner, law authorities, etc., which may require complex and specialized crisis intervention, psychosocial evaluation, and specialized clinical treatment.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of $1.00/hour for hours worked performing direct patient care.

The following rates are Special Entrance Rates (SER) established for this agency in these job titles:

• Professional Counselor 2: $21.27/hour minimum - $36.14/hour maximum
• Professional Counselor 3: $22.76/hour minimum - $38.67/hour maximum
• Professional Counselor 4: $24.35/hour minimum - $41.38/hour maximum

Career Progression: Professional Counselor 2, Professional Counselor 3, or Professional Counselor 4
