Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a Revenue Cycle/Coding Specialist to review health records and assign ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses and procedures.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate coding for physicians and other providers to support billing and reporting. A high school diploma and coding coursework are required; certification preferred. This full-time role is based in Hershey, PA with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 1 year revenue cycle experience or enrolled in approved coding certification.
  • 1 year professional coding experience preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review health records and reports to identify diagnoses and services for coding.
  • Apply ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for physicians and other providers.
  • Ensure coding accuracy to support billing and reporting.

Job description

Responsible to review the health record, electronic reports, and other reporting tools to identify conditions treated and the services provided to each patient. Utilize the appropriate coding systems (ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS) to accurately code diagnoses, services, and procedures performed by physicians and other providers performing billable services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
  • High school diploma required
  • 1 Year relevant Revenue Cycle or enrolled in an approved coding certification class.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S)
  • One year of professional coding experience preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder or similar certification preferred.
