Position Summary (Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or on-call position providing professional support in various fields such as business, science, medical, or agricultural. The term involves working two (2) nine-month periods with a break in between, with options to terminate or switch to on-call status. On-call employees can work up to 1039 hours in any twelve (12) months.

Unit Position Summary

The role involves obtaining harvest data for black bears and other wildlife species across North America, conducting harvest analyses, and applying these to other harvested species. Responsibilities include analyzing success rates, demographics (sex and age), and economic valuations.

Preferred candidates will have direct experience working with wildlife agencies on harvest management, strong communication skills, good organizational abilities, and programming skills in GIS and R for data visualization, spatial analyses, and modeling.

Desired Qualifications

Completion or near completion of a terminal degree in wildlife conservation, wildlife management, or a related field. A strong publication record in wildlife sciences, including evidence of senior authorship in peer-reviewed journals.
