Job summary

De Trio Health Care is seeking a focused Direct Support Professional to assist adults with developmental disabilities in our Level 4I residential homes in California. The role values compassion, punctuality, teamwork, creativity, and strong communication to support daily living and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• CNA certification preferred; DSP experience welcomed.
• One year experience in services for developmental disabilities preferred.
• Experience in residential or group-home settings desired.
• CPR certification required; MAB training provided.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professional staff assist and supervise residents in activities of daily living in a Level 4I facility.
• Deescalate and manage behavioral incidents as needed.
• Document each resident's program per supervisor or RN House Manager guidance.
• Provide active programming; facilitate groups; promote safety.
• Follow standards, procedures, and schedules set by the supervisor.
• Comply with CNA regulations and routine duties.
• Report any suspected abuse as required by law and policies.

Direct Support Professional

Primary Function

• Direct Support Professional staff provide assistance and supervise residents in activities of daily living. Level 4I residential facility for adults.
• DSP staff will be responsible for behavioral management and deescalating residents.
• Responsible for adhering to and documenting an individual's program as directed by the Program Administrator, RN House Manager or licensed staff in charge.
• Responsible for providing active programming at all times. Facilitating groups and promoting a safe environment.
• Responsible for adherence to standards, procedures and schedules established by their supervisor.
• Functions are consistent with certified nurse's aide regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring that any suspicion of or knowledge of suspected abuse is reported in accordance with the law and program policies "Mandated Reporter" (SOC 341).

Education/Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• DSP (preferred)
• Preferred one year experience working in a program serving persons with developmental disabilities .
• Experience working in a residential facility or group home environment.
• CPR Certification.
• MAB training (will provide training).
• Responds to crisis in accordance with De Trio Health Care policy and training.

Working Environment/Hazards

• Ability to work in a variety of environments and settings.
• Ability to work weekend shifts Hours of operation is 24-7; AM-shift, PM-shift, and NOC-shift.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment.
• Interaction with consumers who display aggressive and/or self-injurious behaviors.

Requirements

• Valid California driver license
• Successful completion of pre-employment physical and drug screen, including current TB
• Successful completion of DOJ and FBI background check
• Successful completion of all trainings as required by applicable regulations, including, but not limited to, DSP1 and DSP2.
