Job summary

Exxon Mobil Corporation in Houston seeks an experienced origination professional to originate and pursue products and feedstock opportunities across the Americas. You will build relationships with buyers, suppliers, refiners, and financial institutions to create value and drive growth in the trading portfolio.

The role requires strong negotiation, market knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration across Trading, Operations, Value Chain, Finance and Legal teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in refined products trading, origination, or commercial business development.
  • Strong understanding of refined products markets including supply, demand, pricing, and logistics.
  • Proven ability to identify, negotiate, and execute commercial opportunities that generate value.

Responsibilities

  • Originates and pursues products and feedstock opportunities including supply, offtake, refinery supply/tolling, inventory finance, and other physical commodity solutions.
  • Drives identification, development, and execution of market-facing opportunities leveraging ExxonMobil scale and portfolio.
  • Leads structuring, negotiation, and execution of high-value, complex deals in support of trading and corporate objectives.
  • Applies structured finance solutions to increase deal profitability and manage risk.
  • Grows external relationships with buyers, suppliers, refiners, traders, and financial institutions.
  • Maintains active pipeline of third-party opportunities.

What role you will play in our team

Part of a global Origination Team, with specific focus on the Americas region.

What you will do
  • Responsible for originating and pursuing products and feedstock opportunities including supply, offtake, refinery supply/tolling, inventory finance, and other physical commodity solutions, to capture arbitrage, deliver portfolio synergies, create optionality, and generate value for the ExxonMobil trading portfolio;
  • Drives Identification, development, and execution of market-facing opportunities that leverage ExxonMobil scale, trading portfolio, asset footprint, reputation, relationships, and balance sheet;
  • Leads structuring, negotiation, and execution of high-value, complex deals in support of trading, value chain, and corporate objectives;
  • Applies structured finance solutions where applicable (e.g., inventory finance, loans / pre-pays) to increase deal profitability, manage risk, and reach deal closure;
  • Evaluates alternatives and devises deal enhancements to maximize commercial margin and mitigation strategies to manage risk;
  • Grows and develops key external relationships with buyers, suppliers, refiners, commercial market players, logistics companies, and financial institutions;
  • Maintains active pipeline of third-party opportunities.
About you
  • Spanish and / or Portuguese language skills preferred.
  • Experience in refined products trading, origination, or commercial business development.
  • Strong understanding of refined products markets, including supply, demand, pricing, and logistics.
  • Proven ability to identify, negotiate, and execute commercial opportunities that generate value.
  • Experience working with suppliers, refiners, traders, customers, and logistics providers.
  • Knowledge of physical commodity trading, contracts, and risk management.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across a large organization including Trading, Operations, Value Chain, Finance, and Legal teams.
  • Experience developing new business opportunities, entering new markets, or expanding trading portfolios.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated track record of delivering commercial growth and profitability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
