Job Summary

Metal Utility Worker at Howmet Casting in Dover, New Jersey. This role covers unskilled hourly duties and, once trained, certified tasks across the Metal Department. Shift: Weekend Nights (Friday – Sunday, 6 PM–6 AM). Training occurs Monday–Friday 7 AM–3 PM and may last several months. Starting hourly rate: $25.66; after 12 months: $28.31, plus a shift premium for off‑shift assignments.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Sandblast operations: operate sandblast, tumbling, vibratory or REM equipment to clean metal castings of scale, foreign material and discoloration.
• Carter operations: pick up and deliver products, perform box assembly, and other shipping dock duties.
• Etcher I operations: chemically etch parts and operate water‑honing/drying ovens.
• Grinder operations: back‑stand grinding only, set‑ups, calibrations, fixture verifications, and quality measurements.
• Utility work in additional areas (grade 6 and below) as business needs require.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing Howmet Aerospace's EHS values and policies.
• Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S regulations.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Report all job‑related illnesses and injuries as per the employee handbook.
• Report all safety, health & environmental concerns to your supervisor promptly.
• Attend all EH&S training.

Basic Qualifications

• Must pass the Etcher I visual exam and Level 1 certification.
• Position requires access to export‑controlled items; must be able to lawfully obtain access.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must reside within 50 miles of Dover, NJ; relocation benefit not offered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.

Physical Demands & Equipment Used

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Manufacturing environment (hot, cold, etc.).
• Use of blast machines, grinding machines, hand tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
