Primal Pet Foods in Montrose, CO, is seeking a reliable Production Worker - Inspector to join our team. You will set up, operate, and maintain industrial band saw equipment while ensuring products meet quality and production standards.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and safety-minded, able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and comfortable with cold temperatures. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

Less than high school education; 3 months related experience or training; or equivalent.
Ability to read a limited number of words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers; print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add/subtract numbers and to multiply/divide using units of weight and quantity measurements.
Ability to follow written or oral instructions and handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Responsibilities

Handle/sort frozen bones
Inspect for metal fragments, out-of-spec, odors and off-colour bones
Ensure bones meet cut specifications
Check product temperature
Reporting and recordkeeping
Clean machinery, tools, and production tables
Stand or walk for long periods
Lift up to 50 lbs
Other duties as assigned
Punctual and regular attendance
Work in cold temperatures (30-40 °F)

Qualifications and Skills

Less than high school education; at least 3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences
Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and quantity measurements.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Frequent use of hands and arms for handling materials, operating equipment, and performing machine adjustments.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to lift or move items exceeding 50 pounds with assistance.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, cold temperatures, wet conditions, vibration, and elevated noise levels.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where hearing protection and other PPE may be required.
