Production Worker / Packaging Operator Responsibilities:
- The packaging operator is required to perform two functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The packaging operator must maintain the ability to perform both bagging and baler functions as determined by the Shift Leads.
- Operate machinery in a productive manner using the established safety guidelines and procedures.
- Responsible for assisting other production areas, as needed.
- Move and wrap completed products.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day.
- Assist the Shift Leads to start and stop the pellet mills.
- Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
- Maintain a clean workstation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Bagging Operation
- Operate machinery such as bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and bag sealers.
- Stack bags on pallets, cover pallets, and place finished goods in the correct warehouse locations.
- Accurately complete the Bagger production report, fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control, and tag pallets with Quality Control tags including initials, date, ton number, and shift.
The Baler Operation
- Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets.
- Complete the Baler Operator production report, check bale weight, and record information on reports and quality control tags.
Qualifications/Education for Production Worker / Packaging Operator:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.
- Good eye, hand, and foot coordination required.
- Must pass company forklift training.
- Ability to read and interpret scales.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills needed to adjust baler weight and timing, and perform simple maintenance.
