Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is hiring for a Production Shift in Cowpens, SC. The role is onsite, hourly, and includes a rotating 4-on/4-off schedule with weekend and holiday work. You will help run mill operations and support production goals.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and a willingness to work overtime. Forklift experience and prior manufacturing exposure are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a reliable flow of recycled fiber to production operations.
• Operate material handling and production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Manage OCC inventory and material movement using computerized systems.
• Optimize fiber quality by selecting appropriate OCC grades.
• Produce customer-ready paper rolls by operating Reel and Winder equipment.
• Support the timely shipment of finished products through safe loading and handling of orders.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow safety procedures.

The Opportunity

When you join Smurfit Westrock, you will be joining a team that creates sustainable paper and packaging solutions that help move the world forward. In this role, you will support safe and efficient mill operations by performing a variety of production functions across multiple work areas. Successful operators must develop proficiency in at least seven of the mill's nine production positions, enabling the team to meet production goals, support customer needs, and drive operational performance.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Ensure a reliable flow of recycled fiber raw materials to production operations, supporting continuous mill performance and customer delivery commitments.
• Operate material handling and production equipment safely and efficiently to maximize productivity and maintain operational excellence.
• Manage OCC inventory and material movement using computerized systems to maintain accurate stock levels and support production planning.
• Optimize fiber quality by selecting and supplying the appropriate mix of OCC grades to meet manufacturing and product quality standards.
• Produce customer-ready paper rolls by operating Reel and Winder equipment in accordance with quality, safety, and specification requirements
• Support the timely shipment of finished products through safe loading and handling of customer orders
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a flexible schedule to work four 4 day on / 4 day off shift rotation, including weekends and holidays
• Must be willing to work overtime as required, including during scheduled mill outages
• Must have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Lift Truck experience preferred
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred
