Job summary

Central Moloney is seeking a Welder for its Production department in Transformer operations. The role focuses on MIG welding, assembling metal components, and interpreting blueprints to meet transformer manufacturing needs.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and prior MIG welding experience. You will read specifications, work instructions, and quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and contributing to a team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication activities in accordance with blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and established procedures.
  • Assemble, position, and weld metal components used in transformer manufacturing.
  • Perform MIG welding and other assigned welding processes using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and other production documentation.
  • Cut, prepare, fit, and position metal components according to required dimensions and specifications.
  • Grind, smooth, and finish welded components as necessary to meet established quality requirements.
  • Work with various metals, including steel and aluminum, as required by production needs.
  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for conformance to applicable specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and report defective materials, weld defects, equipment issues, or other nonconforming conditions to supervision.
  • Complete and maintain required production and quality documentation accurately.

  • Perform welding and fabrication activities in accordance with blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and established procedures.
  • Assemble, position, and weld metal components used in transformer manufacturing.

  • Maintain tools, materials, and supplies necessary to support assigned welding and fabrication activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, work instructions, and PPE requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous MIG welding experience required; manufacturing or metal fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, techniques, and applicable safety procedures.

  • Ability to use applicable measuring devices to verify dimensions and specifications.

  • 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
  • 3rd Shift - Monday - Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • All new hires start on 2nd Shift unless discussed
  • Overtime may be required, including early start times or later end times.

Physical Demands: This position involves sustained physical activity and may require prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive movement; and handling or positioning materials and equipment. Lifting and carrying requirements will be identified based on the essential functions of the specific position and may include loads exceeding 50 pounds, including team‑assisted or mechanical lifting where appropriate. The position requires sufficient visual ability to safely perform assigned work, identify components and materials, read equipment markings and work instructions, recognize hazards, perform required inspections or precision work, and safely operate or work around industrial equipment. The position requires sufficient hearing ability to communicate in an industrial environment and recognize equipment operation or changes in operation, audible warnings, alarms, signals, and other conditions necessary for safe job performance. The physical, vision, and hearing requirements described above represent those necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Qualified individuals must be able to perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Work is performed in an industrial metal fabrication/manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, moving machinery, and powered equipment.
  • Regular exposure to welding operations, including welding arc/light, sparks, hot metal and surfaces, fumes, and airborne particulates.
  • Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures and work around forklifts, hoists, powered tools, and other industrial equipment.
  • Required use of applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with established welding and safety procedures.
