Job Description

Shift: Monday through Friday, Swing Shift

MISSION:

To assemble moderately complex wax components, including gating systems, to produce mold forms for investment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Preparation

Objective: Inspect patterns and determine assembly methods.

Activities:

  • Pre-inspect pattern and gating components prior to assembly.
  • Follow technique card instructions for assembly steps of moderate complexity.
Assembly

Objective: Accurately assemble multi-component patterns and maintain dimensional integrity.

Activities:

  • Assemble wax patterns and gating components using torch, hot pencils, and hand tools.
  • Weld gates into place with torch or hot pencil.
  • Assemble complex patterns, sometimes using fixturing for control.
  • Manipulate components to correct discrepancies and verify dimensions.
  • Smooth and gauge assembly areas with hot tools or paint seal.
  • Modify gates as needed for proper fit.
  • Hand fabricate gating from raw materials occasionally.
  • Inspect assemblies for defects during and after assembly.
Safety

Objective: Practice safe work habits.

Activities:

  • Follow safety rules.
  • Operate equipment safely.
  • Report safety issues.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Training
  • On-the-job training provided.
Entry Qualifications
  • 9-12 months of wax assembly experience preferred, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of assembly techniques, materials, and fixturing.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform calculations.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds, occasionally up to 125 pounds.
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, fumes, crowding, physical strain, and chemicals.
Major Plant Differences
  • LSBO uses Production Wax Assembler B as a training position and does not use level C Assemblers.
