Job summary

Syensqo is seeking a Production Unit Manager to lead site operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production and shipment of quality products. You will drive HSE excellence and ensure OSHA and Syensqo standards compliance while optimizing resources to improve performance and reduce costs.

As an agent of change, you will build accountability, drive execution to meet KPI targets, and lead Operations supervisory and support personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in an industrial facility with supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with safety management systems and risk analysis methodologies.
  • Unionized workforce management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interact positively and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

We are looking for:

This Production Unit Manager leads and manages site operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient production and shipment of quality products. The role drives HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) excellence and ensures compliance with OSHA and Syensqo standards while optimizing the use of departmental resources to improve performance, strengthen operating discipline, and reduce fixed and variable costs. As an agent of change, the Production Unit Manager builds accountability across the workforce and drives execution to achieve target performance levels, measured through Manufacturing Excellence and other internal KPIs.

  • Continually increase the efficiency and overall output of the workforce and reduce unit production costs.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop Operations supervisory and support personnel.
  • Provide the leadership and establish or refine systems or approaches to instill Operating Discipline in those that perform work.
  • Introduce the proactive approach to the operations workforce to prevent problems
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts, and/or SAP is a plus, but not required.
  • Must have a high degree of initiative, influence, and problem-solving capability.
HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Fully participate in plant HSE initiatives including performing periodic audits and housekeeping inspections.
  • Enforce Syensqo Life Savings Rules and all other site safety rules and procedures.
  • Conduct routine informal inspections on the shop floor and provide feedback to supervision on observations and corrective actions.
  • Assure appropriate HSE training is provided to all direct and indirect reports.
  • Assure all safety inspections and audits be performed and documented.
  • Participate in regulatory and internal audits as needed.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound workplace for employees.
  • Conduct or direct the completion of investigations of incidents or near misses, as appropriate, and ensure corrective actions are identified, assigned, and completed.
You will bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, other closely-related field, or appropriate work experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in an industrial facility, preferably in a chemical process production plant with three or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experience with safety management systems, exposure assessment tools, and risk analysis methodologies.
  • Unionized workforce management experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to interact positively and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

You will get:
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The U.S. base yearly salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $140,000 to $165,000. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations.
