Caterpillar Minneapolis is seeking a training specialist to deliver classroom and hands-on safety and material handling training, and to support FlexWork scheduling tools across the site.
You will develop and maintain the training curriculum, evaluate operator skills, and work with leaders to promote a strong safety culture in daily operations.

The purpose of this position is to provide classroom and practical training on a wide array of safety and manufacturing tasks in material handling according to company policies/procedures. This position will also support the FlexWork program working with leaders on scheduling needs and utilization of the FlexWork tools to support the needs.
Responsible for putting safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses and safety incidents. Provide training to new hires and current workforce to demonstrate expected performance in safety, quality and velocity. Training topics include, but are not limited to PIT, warehouse, and inventory management. This includes the evaluation of team members’ skills and training to close skill/knowledge gaps. Support the FlexWork program for Material Handling. Working with leaders to publish and manage FlexWork needs and schedules, including provide support to the FlexWork team members. Responsible for managing and maintaining documentation and equipment training curriculum to ensure accuracy, relevant and up to date materials. This includes continuing to demonstrate knowledge of processes and standards, as well as engaging in continuous learning to stay up to date with ongoing changes. Responsible to positively change the safety culture at Caterpillar Minneapolis. Engage employees to better understand their work, behaviors, processes, and tooling that help them stay safe. Observe job functions with curiosity to recognize safe behaviors and identify unseen risks. Working with multiple departments and recommending solutions to reduce risk identified. Work with limited supervision. Coordinate and prioritize work to meet schedules. Take initiative to identify, document, communicate and correct problems, report discrepancies and recommend solutions. Interact, provide feedback and training to team members supporting People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) initiatives and daily activities in alignment with our Code of Conduct and Values in Action. Complete projects as needed. Ability to work flexible schedules to support production training and safety needs.
Demonstrated training, coaching, or teaching experience. Strong knowledge in inventory management and logistics processes and procedures. Experience and knowledge of material handling operations, inventory management, and supply chain/logistics processes. Ability to utilize a computer to maintain and update training curriculum. Computer skills with emphasis on Windows or Microsoft Office products. Experience and use of warehouse tools and equipment to execute responsibilities in a material handling environment, including inventory management systems. Strong written and verbal communication.
Experience in training curriculum content creation. Experience and knowledge of Caterpillar assembly operations and processes. Strong written and verbal communication. Strong knowledge in manufacturing processes and procedures. Ability to utilize computers to maintain and update training curriculum. Intermediate or higher computer skills with emphasis on windows, SAP, and Microsoft Office products.
Presenting and speaking to individual and groups of team members. Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists. Lift up to 35 lbs frequently. Work at multiple heights. Climb on equipment, machines, ladders and various step stools. Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts with minimal breaks. Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures. Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices. Kneel, squat, and crawl on knees. Work in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, and forward head and rotation of neck. Work in tight spaces. Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, rotating. Use of fine motor skills. Use of hand tools including wrenches, air tools, drills, cutters, tie wrap guns, pneumatic, vibratory, etc. Includes ability to pull manual torque tools to torque requirements (at least 250 Newton meters or 185 foot pounds).

Pay Range: $28.35 - $36.23 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
