Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is hiring a Production Technician to join our fast-paced manufacturing team in support of superconducting magnet production. You will perform and monitor electromechanical assembly, with emphasis on quality and safety, to help deliver reliable components for fusion energy systems.

This role requires 6+ years in electro-mechanical assembly, familiarity with cryogenics, and the ability to work 6:00 am–6:00 pm on Fri–Sun.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ years with hand tools in mechanical or electrical assembly.
• Experience with winding equipment is a plus.
• Experience with cryogenic materials (LN2, helium) in controlled environment.
• Knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring.
• Proficient in soldering and harness builds.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Build a variety of electromechanical parts and assemblies.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and qualify new manufacturing techniques.
• Perform production builds according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Use mechanical and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, wrenches, Allen keys, micrometers, calipers).
• Read and interpret assembly drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Communicate challenges and ideas to peers and leadership.
• Operate production, testing, and high-powered magnet equipment.
• Identify problems and recommend process improvements.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness.

Join the Power Movement as a Production Technician

The production technician is an integral part of the CFS team performing and monitoring the manufacturing processes required to build and test superconducting magnets. You will have the opportunity to work within a fast-paced, exciting atmosphere to help the team meet the global necessity for clean energy. The role ensures functional operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and continuous improvement, and works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and other departments to meet goals and objectives.

This production technician position requires 6+ years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly.

Hours: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm
Work schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Pay: $30 - $41 per hour + 15% differential

• Display great attention to detail and a sound understanding of what makes a good product

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher, or equivalent certification
• Minimum of 6 years experience with various hand tools
• Minimum of 6 years experience in Mechanical or Electrical Assembly
• Experience with winding equipment of any type is a plus
• PLC experience
• Material processing
• Experience working with cryogenic chemicals such as LN2 and Helium in a controlled environment
• Basic power tools proficiency

• Epoxy potting or injection molding experience
