Job Description
The Production Technician Sr. independently performs and oversees a broad range of plant activities to support the distribution of high-quality seed to our clients and customers.
Duties:
- Operate and have expertise in all equipment and systems within the site, including running and operating the conditioning tower.
- Drive forklifts, operate pallet wraps, and support systems such as conditioning, packaging, and treating.
- Lead field activities, including planting, field observations, harvest, and data collection.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues during incidents or breakdowns, and perform routine maintenance.
- Support, train, and mentor new Production Technicians.
- Create and update training materials related to production processes and procedures.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with site HSE protocols and Syngenta policies.
- Manage shift change handoffs and facilitate production meetings.
- Support process order tracking, administrative procedures, maintenance orders, and production data systems (SAP, SMMS, WMS).
- Develop metrics for visual boards and data dashboards to enhance teamwork and support data-driven decisions.
- Log non-conformities, support root cause analysis, and escalate issues as needed.
- Adhere to and promote the company's Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Limited knowledge of SAP.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant production software (SCADA).
- Ability to perform manual labor tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 70 pounds.
- Effective working ability in areas like warehouse, packaging, and treating.
- Ability to work shifts: October - April from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm; June - September, four 10-hour days from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
