Job summary

Cretex Medical in Minnesota is seeking a Production Technician to set up and operate manual and automatic punch presses and related equipment used to manufacture precision stamped components. This role inspects raw materials, work-in-process and finished parts for conformance to quality standards and customer expectations, adjusting the stamping process as needed.

The ideal candidate will work well in a team, read blueprints and work instructions, and mentor newer operators.

Qualifications

Production Technician

Position Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for setting up and operating manual and automatic punch presses, as well as other equipment used in the manufacture of precision stamped components. This role completes inspections of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished parts for conformance to quality standards and customer expectations, and makes adjustments to the stamping process to ensure quality requirements are maintained. The ideal candidate is able to work in a team environment and interact with a multitude of organizations during manufacturing operations.

2nd Shift: 2:00 pm-12:30 am Monday-Thursday

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

• Operate production equipment, including progressive and single-stage stamping presses, as well as other equipment used in the manufacture of precision stamped components (such as metal finishing machines and secondary operations machinery).
• Input data into the job tracking software system.
• Ensure the correct program is loaded into production equipment.
• Accurately load parts into fixtures for laser and robotic operations and/or single-stage press equipment.
• Troubleshoot machinery and investigate machine issues during production runs.
• Maintain Kanban, iSupply, and production plan levels.
• Perform visual and measurement inspections and accurately document the results.
• Interpret blueprints, follow control plans, and complete IPIs (In-Process Inspections) and PPIs (Pre-Production Inspections).
• Follow manufacturing and quality procedures and comply with all documented requirements.
• Maintain inventory levels and production plans/rates.
• Assist in the packaging of products.
• Perform secondary operations, including cleaning, deburring, passivation, and broaching.
• Enter production information and log time-per-part into the ERP system on a timely basis.
• Work as an active team member on the production floor, assisting others as needed.
• Mentor Production Machine Operators.
• Adhere to all safety policies, including wearing ear and eye protection where required.
• Perform daily safety checks prior to running machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance on presses under the direction of the maintenance technician.
• Train production personnel following all appropriate training procedures.
• Operate multiple presses simultaneously when appropriate.
• Partner with New Tool Build during the qualification of new tools, run tools in development, and provide feedback for the creation and revision of production and quality instructions.
• Routinely run multiple customer parts across a variety of press tonnages.
• Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements.
• Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work.
• Partner with other business segments, including Sales/Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.
• Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve.
• Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly.
• Participate in required company meetings.
• Maintain an organized work area following 5S expectations.
• Participate in the Operational Excellence Program.
• Complete all other work duties as assigned.
• Work effectively and safely in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements, Education & Experience

(Including KSAs and Certifications)

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment running machining equipment.
• Press Operation: Ability to set up and run stamping presses.
• Strip Reading: Ability to read a progression strip.
• Work Instructions: Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions, SOPs, and training documents, including the ability to create and document new processes.
• Precision Tools: Ability to use hand tools such as micrometers, pin gauges, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Maintenance: Ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
• Blueprints: Ability to read blueprints.
• Math Skills: Excellent shop math skills, including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• GD&T: Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Pay Range

USD $21.20 - USD $33.89 /Hr.

Pay Range Details

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full hiring range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.
