Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation in Sparks, NV is seeking a Production Technician II to handle complex electronic and mechanical assemblies. You will work independently, perform quality inspections, troubleshoot basic issues, and document production activities while following safety protocols.

You will mentor junior technicians, collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must understand technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints or manuals.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies.
  • Basic skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble complex electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies per diagrams and drawings.
  • Perform quality inspections and tests on assembled products.
  • Troubleshoot basic assembly issues and resolve them.
  • Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
  • Document production activities and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and PPE usage.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior production technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.

The Production Technician II takes on more complex assembly tasks and ensures the accuracy and quality of assembled components. This role involves working independently and providing support to junior team members while adhering to safety and compliance standards. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:
  • Assemble complex electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies according to detailed diagrams and drawings.
  • Perform quality inspections and tests on assembled products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic assembly issues.
  • Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
  • Document and report production activities and any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior production technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years as a technician or in a related field.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment.
  • Prior experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Basic skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Training certification.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
  • Stand for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
  • Ability to travel may be required.
  • For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
