The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth MN location in the Electrophysiology medical device division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

Individuals in this role will work on a new product launch supporting the operations team as a 2nd shift (3:30pm to 2:30am Monday - Thursday) technician. Activities include support in setting-up, calibrating and operating basic machines and equipment, following production schedules and quality standards, monitoring production processes, and troubleshooting simple production problems. Troubleshoots and resolves basic technical problems from the product line/process to minimize reject levels and escalates problems when necessary.

What You’ll Work On
  1. Front line senior process technician supporting Operations team and repair and maintenance tech team.
  2. Support products which include production equipment, process improvements and cost reductions.
  3. Learn manufacturing processes, techniques and best practices and support Operations team in coaching assemblers.
  4. Setting-up, calibrating and operating basic machines and equipment, following production schedules and quality standards, monitoring production processes, and troubleshooting simple production problems.
  5. Troubleshoots and resolves basic technical problems from the product line/process to minimize reject levels and escalates problems when necessary.
  6. Assist maintenance team to ensure continuous operation for production equipment.
  7. Assist engineers in troubleshooting safety, quality or process issues.
  8. Perform scrap dissection and support investigation into potential root causes.
  9. Summarize information to communicate across shifts and with other functional areas.

  4. Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  5. Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  3. Ability to work with assemblers and other non-technical personnel.
  4. Ability to teach and coach others.
  5. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
  6. Results-oriented.
  7. Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner to meet assigned deadlines.
  8. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under limited supervision.
  9. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. 0-3 years of manufacturing technician experience preferred, but not required.
  2. Trade school certification, specialized training/apprenticeship and/or equivalent in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or other equivalent.
  3. Medical device experience preferred, but not required.

The base pay for this position is $19.15 – $38.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
