The Role: Production Technician I

As a Production Technician I at Switch, you will support the construction and installation of cabinets and related infrastructure within our data center facilities. You will complete assigned assembly and installation work using established procedures, drawings, measurements, and safety requirements. You will also inspect your work for quality and help keep tools, materials, and work areas ready for the team. This is a hands-on role that requires work indoors and outdoors and around active data center environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and install cabinets based on project requirements.
  • Support T-SCIF, RPP, perimeter cage, ladder rack, and related data center construction work.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials using hand and power tools.
  • Install cabinet and T-SCIF labeling.
  • Fabricate and install heat containment panels, ceiling grid, ceiling tiles, magnets, and foam.
  • Complete quality checks on assigned work and correct issues within your scope.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas during construction and installation.
  • Track and maintain tools and supplies used by the cabinet build team.
  • Safely operate approved equipment, including forklifts, boom lifts, power tools, and company vehicles when authorized.
  • Help transport cabinets and materials using required procedures and equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures when working around racks, cable, fiber, power, and other live data center infrastructure.
What We’re Looking For
  • You follow established procedures and safety requirements, especially when working around mission-critical infrastructure.
  • You communicate clearly and share information needed to complete work safely and correctly.
  • You complete assigned work reliably and follow through on quality issues.
  • You work effectively with other technicians and support shared build schedules.
  • You identify routine problems, use sound judgment, and raise issues when they fall outside your scope.
  • You take care of company tools, equipment, materials, and customer environments.
  • You maintain a professional approach when working around customers and customer equipment.
What You’ll Bring
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude gained through work experience, technical training, or a skilled trade.
  • Experience using powered and non-powered hand tools safely.
  • Ability to take accurate dimensional measurements.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics related to data center support equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and internal communication tools.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and perform physical work that includes standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, carrying materials, and operating tools.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Heavier materials and equipment must be moved using required procedures, team support, or specialized equipment.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and reliable transportation to the work site.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Relevant production, facilities, construction, or mechanical maintenance experience is preferred. We encourage you to apply if your experience has given you the practical skills needed for this work, even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.
