Basic Functions

The Production Trainee will assist the farm production team in safely carrying out daily responsibilities in the breeding/farrowing departments while adhering to the Company Standard Operating Procedures for maximum productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Complies with biosecurity practices to safeguard the health of the swine herd
• Performs routine tasks assigned by the Head of Department
• Follows company SOPs to complete daily tasks effectively and efficiently
• Ensures a safe work environment and practices
• Cares for animals daily, including feeding, watering, health treatments, detecting heat, artificial insemination, and other animal care duties
• Monitors and oversees the birthing process, ensuring proper care for piglets, following SOPs
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the work area
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Farm Manager

Requirements

• Interest in working with pigs, willingness to learn animal behavior, and perform routine animal husbandry tasks
• Availability to work 11 of 14 days in a pay cycle, including weekends and holidays
• Solid work history and ability to provide references

Ability To

Stand, walk, kneel, squat, and be on feet for up to 10 hours per day. Frequently bend, reach, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs, occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance. Work in noisy environments requiring hearing protection. Communicate effectively, follow directions, and work in a fast-paced environment.
