Job summary

Swine Web is seeking a Production Trainee to support the farm production team in breeding and farrowing areas, following Company SOPs for productivity and safety. You will assist with animal care, feeding, vaccinations, and birthing processes while maintaining high biosecurity and welfare standards.

The role requires flexibility to work 11 of 14 days including weekends and holidays, with strong teamwork and the ability to communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with pigs and learn animal behavior.
• Ability to perform routine animal husbandry tasks daily.
• Willingness to work with minimal supervision while following SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain biosecurity practices to protect the herd.
• Perform daily tasks as assigned by Head of Department.
• Follow SOPs to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
• Care for animals including feeding, watering, vaccination, and birthing support as required.
• Assist with monitoring and caring for newborn piglets as per SOPs.
• Collaborate with team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as directed by Farm Manager.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Production Trainee will assist the farm production team in safelycarrying out daily responsibilities in the breeding/farrowingdepartments while adhering to the Company Standard Operating Proceduresfor maximum productivity, efficiency and profitability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complies with the practices and principals of biosecurity to safeguard the life and health of the swine herd
• Performs routine tasks assigned by the Head of Department
• Complies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) to complete all daily tasks effectively and efficiently
• Ensures and follows the highest level of a safe work environment and work practices
• Routinely cares for the welfare of the animals on a daily basis,including feeding, watering, providing health and vaccination treatment,detecting heat, conducting artificial insemination procedures, as wellas other animal care assigned
• Routinely cares for the welfare of the animals on a daily basis,including monitoring and overseeing the birthing process, and ensuringthe baby pigs are cared for properly, following company SOPs
• Works with team members to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the work area
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Farm Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

• Desire to work with pigs, willingness to learn and understand animalbehavior, tolerate and willingness to perform animal husbandry tasks on aroutine basis
• Must be available to work 11 of 14 days in a pay cycle, including weekends and holidays
• Must have a solid work history and have ability to provide solid work references

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to:

• Stand, walk, kneel, squat and be on feet for up to 10 hours per day
• Frequently bend, reach, pull, lift – occasionally lifting and pulling up to 100 lbs with assistance of another team member
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Work in noise levels that may require hearing protection in some areas
• Display a high level of respect to team members and animals
