Job summary

Ball Corporation is hiring a Production Technician for our Millersburg, OR facility. The role focuses on operating and monitoring production line machinery safely and efficiently, with emphasis on building core technical skills, process discipline, and basic equipment performance checks.

Roles rotate on 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm, 6pm-6am) across a 2-3-2 schedule. We seek individuals who can follow SOPs, respond to basic stops, and report abnormalities promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned equipment following standard procedures and ensure safe operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and report unsafe conditions; use PPE and participate in safety audits.
  • Identify and report equipment or process abnormalities; inform team leads of deviations.
  • Assist in basic troubleshooting and cleaning tasks; support minor stops under supervision.
  • Perform visual and dimensional quality checks; document non-conformities.
  • Minimize material waste by proper handling and operation; reduce spoilage.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to learn upstream/downstream impact, settings, and quality drivers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and suggest ergonomic/workflow enhancements.

Position Overview:

As aProduction Technician, you are responsible for running and monitoring specific equipment on the production line in a safe and reliable manner. Your role focus on building fundamental technical skills, developing process discipline, and learning the basics of equipment performance and quality checks. The Production Technician / Production Mechanic is expected to follow standard operating procedures, respond to basic equipment stops, and elevate abnormalities. With strong performance, technical curiosity, and learning agility, this core can progress int to Production Specialist, gaining broader technical responsibility and autonomy.

The Millersburg plant is a high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment.Our crews work 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) working a 2-3-2 schedule. Schedules will rotate from day to night shift every 4 weeks.

  • Operational Experience: ability of handling day-to-day operations of production machinery, ensure the production process runs continuously without interruptions
  • Limited Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance: ability to identify issues, perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance tasks, ability to use hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks and repairs
  • Quality Assurance and Inspection: conduct quality checks to ensure products meet specified standards and record results accordingly
  • Safety Understanding: understands the importance of safe work practices and follows procedures diligently
  • Literacy and Comprehension: Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending written materials clearly in the local language relevant to the role
  • Effective Communication: ability to communicate and report issues effectively with coworkers and internal leadership team
  • Attention to Details: keen attention to detail to ensure all aspects of production meet high standards
  • Time Management: ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Continuous improvement Mindset: observers' inefficiencies and contributes ideas to improve safety, quality, or flow
Skills:
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems and tools
  • Visual and basic measurement tools, knows how to perform basic inspections and interpret results
  • First-level stop response, can identify and assist in resolving simple line stops or alarms
  • Basic Troubleshooting of common mechanical & graphics issues to minimize downtime
  • Flexibly and learning agility to rotate between machines, to switch between different tasks, ensuring smooth workflow and adaptability
  • Start-up/shutdown procedures, understands and follows step-by-step operation instructions, following safety protocols and maintaining production quality
  • Basic computer skills, understands how to use digital tools and systems for communication and task execution

Accountabilities:

  • Operate assigned equipment following standard procedure, ensures safe and stable operation of a specific machine or process step, accelerate issues when needed
  • Follow safety protocols and report unsafe conditions, adheres to all safety standards, uses PPE properly, and participate in safety audits or checks
  • Identify and report equipment or process abnormalities, recognizes unusual equipment behaviour or process deviations and informs team leads
  • Support basic troubleshooting and cleaning tasks (Housekeeping), assists in resolving minor stops and performs regular cleaning or checks under supervision
  • Perform visual and dimensional quality checks, executes basic in-line inspections using tools or visual standards and reports non-conformities
  • Minimize material waste through correct handling and operation, operates with care to reduce spoilage
  • Participate on-the-job training and learning activities, builds knowledge of upstream/downstream process impact, equipment setting, and quality drivers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, maintain clear, organized work area and suggests improvements to routines or ergonomics

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

May be subject to all of the following, but not limited to:

Hot/Cold working conditions.

Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.

Climbing (stairs, and other equipment as necessary).

Qualifications & Experience:

- Hiring Salary Range: $26.15 - 28.93/hr (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
