Job summary

LGG INDUSTRIAL in Houston, TX is seeking a Production Technician to support manufacturing and distribution activities. This full-time, non-exempt role involves assembling products, receiving and shipping items, operating forklifts and lathe equipment, and assisting welders in daily production orders.

The position emphasizes safety, quality testing, inventory handling and adherence to company work instructions.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1–3 years of related warehousing or production experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
  • Assembles products to company, customer and manufacturer standards.
  • Performs all product testing to quality standards per customer and work instruction.
  • Receives incoming shipments into inventory, posts in online system and stores items in warehouse.
  • Picks product in warehouse and prepares items for delivery or shipping.
  • Operates mechanical equipment, hand tools, forklifts and picking lifts where applicable.
  • Assists with physical inventory and improves products or processes.
  • Supports welders with daily production orders and tooling.
  • Cuts metal hose innercore and braid; uses grinders and chop saws.
  • Machines metal fittings using a lathe.
  • Prepares metal hose for welding; measures components for assembly.
  • Records end fitting deductions for overall length.
  • Provides innercore samples for QA inspection as applicable.
  • Allocates used parts in order packets and returns unused inventory.
  • Keeps all shop locations neat, clean and orderly.
  • Performs other duties as trained and qualified.

Summary of the Role

This position is responsible for a variety of tasks that are manufacturing or distribution based and may include assembling and manufacturing sales orders, picking products from the warehouse, shipping, and receiving.

Responsibilities
  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
  • Assembles products to company, customer and manufacturer's standards
  • Performs all product testing to quality standards as required by the customer and per company work instruction
  • Receives incoming shipments into inventory, posts in online system and places items in warehouse
  • Picks product in warehouse and prepares items for delivery or shipping
  • Operates mechanical equipment, hand tools, forklifts and picking lifts (if applicable)
  • Assists with physical inventory
  • Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements
  • Assist welders in their daily production orders
  • Cut metal hose innercore and braid utilizing grinders, chop saw, handtools, and aviation shears
  • Machine metal fittings utilizing a lathe
  • Prepare metal hose for welding; measure metal innercore/ metal braid and assemble with braid ring
  • Calculate and record proper end fitting deductions when calculating overall length
  • Provides innercore samples for QA inspection, as applicable
  • Properly allocate all used parts in the Order Packet/Pick Ticket
  • Properly tag and return unused inventory to warehouse
  • Maintain all shop locations in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Perform other duties as trained and qualified for
Skills and Abilities
  • Applicants should possess the ability to interact with team members in a professional manner
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Requires basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure
  • Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools
  • Basic computer skills preferred, including email and internet
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1-3 years of related warehousing or production experience
  • Previous experience in production, manufacturing, lathe operation, and/or warehouse setting preferred
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Ability to safely drive a Company truck or other mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to work overtime, as required
  • Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position is based in a production and warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to a range of environmental conditions. These include fluctuating temperatures (both hot and cold), varying noise levels, exposure to dust, and other typical elements of an active industrial environment.   • Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid.

  • Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work at varying work-surface levels and machine operation heights.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to count, measure, and record data accurately.
  • Ability to respond to safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to inspect products and materials to detect imperfections, defects, or irregularities and ensure quality and compliance.
  • Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery (training and certification may be required).
  • Ability to enter and exit a service vehicle and other mechanical equipment multiple times per day.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats, depending on task or site conditions.
