Job summary

Vylor, an on-site production team in Fremont, IA, is seeking a Production Technician to support harvest, conditioning, and packaging activities. Responsibilities include operating automated equipment, handling sorting and palletizing, and maintaining safe, efficient production workflows.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, strong computer skills, and be willing to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends to meet seasonal demand.

Qualifications

  • Willing to climb and work in elevated areas, stand and sit for long periods, and handle outdoor/indoor conditions.
  • Strong computer aptitude with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated diligence, multitasking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid US driver’s license and ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in harvest prep, drying, shelling, husk oversight, unloading, and related processes.
  • Monitor automated equipment during harvesting, conditioning, treating, and packing.
  • Handle product returns and sorting activities.
  • Assist sizing, gravity operation, packaging, and palletizing.
  • Operate automation and computerized systems and perform forklift/warehouse duties.

Vylor has an exciting opportunity for a Production Technician to join our team at our Fremont, Iowa location!

This role will be on site at the Corteva location.

What You Will Do:
  • Participate in harvest activities such as preparation, drying, shelling, husk oversight, product unloading, and other relevant processes
  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with general plant, field and warehouse operations that evolve with each season throughout the year
  • Accurately monitor highly automated equipment for processes such as harvesting, conditioning, treating, and packing
  • Product return and sorting activities
  • Actively participate in conditioning activities such as sizing, gravity operation, packaging, palletizing, etc.
  • Use of automation and computerized systems to perform work tasks (computers and iPads)
  • Perform warehouse activities such as forklift operation, collecting samples, pooling, and other duties associated
  • Various other duties as assigned
Education:
  • You have your High School Diploma/GED OR are willing and able to obtain your GED within twelve (12) months of hire as a condition of employment
What Skills You Need:
  • You are willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: Climb and/or work in elevated areas, Stand and sit for extended periods, work outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions, lift up to fifty (50) lbs., and perform work that involves repetitive motion and lifting
  • You are comfortable with technology and possess good computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and are willing and able to learn other company specific applications as required
  • You have high diligence, can multitask, maintain an organized workplace and excellent problem-solving skills
  • You have a valid US Driver’s License
  • You value working as a team, are initiative-taking, communicate concerns, and are accepting of change
  • You possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • You demonstrate integrity and promote a positive working environment by being an initiative-taker and willing to assist team members on a consist basis
  • You uphold health and safety to the highest standard! You consistently help others and demonstrate adherence to safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure you and your colleagues go home safely every day
  • You understand that delivering to our customers on time keeps us viable and are willing and able to work a rotating shift and overtime hours, which include nights and weekends during seasonal peaks to support production demand
What Makes You Stand Out:
  • Two-Year Technical or associate’s degree in agriculture, manufacturing, or related field
  • You have one (1) year of education and/or experience in operations, manufacturing, agriculture, or related industry
  • Knowledge or experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work
  • General knowledge and/or experience with field and/or agriculture equipment (plows, tractor, forklift, etc.)
