Job summary

Donald Engineering in Grand Haven, MI, is seeking a capable assembler to support production of electrical components, customer assemblies, and fluid power parts. You will organize orders, maintain inventory, and assist engineering with prototyping or machining as required.

You will assemble to spec, troubleshoot issues, pick/pack orders, operate mills or lathes for mockups, conduct inspections, and help with warehousing and data entry.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude for blueprint reading and complex assembly.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with organizational skills, time management, and prioritization.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products to standard or custom order specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with company products.
  • Resolve order discrepancies with customers and DE staff as necessary.
  • Pick and package parts or assemblies to fulfill customer orders.
  • Operate machine-shop equipment for mockups or production (mill, lathe, small tools).
  • Conduct product inspections, tests, or repairs per sales/BOM specification.
  • Assist the Engineering team with work instructions.
  • Assist with warehousing, inventory, shipping, receiving, housekeeping as needed.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, inventory, production, and repair information in databases.
  • Routine operation and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Follow company policy and procedure with respect to systems, practices, and information sharing.
  • Maintain confidential documents & databases regarding customer contacts, costs, pricing, & contracts.
  • Manage and/or complete special projects as assigned.
  • Make recommendations and suggestions that promote continuous improvement.

BASIC FUNCTION

LOCATION & SCHEDULE
  • Daily work site will be the company location in Grand Haven.Occasional work at the Grand Rapids site or customer site visits may also be required.
  • Full-time; specific hours and days are flexible and negotiable.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude for blueprint reading and complex assembly
  • Ability to multitask and routinely meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with organizational skills, time management, and prioritization
  • Industrial assembly experience preferred
