Job summary

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of safe material handling practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment, machinery, tools, and materials in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, and quantity prior to processing.
  • Perform machine setup adjustments including torch height, consumables, gas settings, and cutting parameters.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and efficient material utilization.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to maintain quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and coordinate maintenance support when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate production records, material traceability documentation, and machine performance logs.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with other fabrication, manufacturing, or production tasks as assigned.

Position Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing and fabrication operations by safely operating production equipment, processing materials, performing quality inspections, and maintaining production flow. This role ensures that quality standards, safety requirements, and production goals are consistently met while maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, sparks, noise, dust, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to safely handle and move metal materials and parts.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed footwear, and other PPE as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating manufacturing or fabrication equipment.
  • Forklift certification or experience.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and material characteristics.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.

- Pay Range: - $15.00 - $21.68 - Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles. - This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible. - Ferguson complies with all wage regulations. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
