Job summary

Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG in the Detroit area seeks a skilled machinist/assembler to produce and assemble samples, prototypes, and tools according to work plans and specifications.

You will coordinate with the team to decode drawings, ensure material availability, and prepare tools and parts for production. You will also run quality checks, document results, and support engineers or project managers in analysis of samples.

Qualifications

• Vocationally trained in electronics and mechanics with hands-on work experience.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant production or manufacturing experience.
• Undergraduate degree in electronics or mechanics also acceptable with 3–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Define machining sequences and production work orders.
• Assemble and prepare tools and equipment for production use.
• Prepare, install and document tooling hardware and clamping devices.
• Operate associated production programs, monitor results and adjust when needed.
• Track work order progress, machine time and materials usage; oversee helpers if assigned.
• Perform minor maintenance and comply with safety rules and PPE usage.

Job description

• Assemble and manufacture series of product samples, prototypes, tools or systems in specified time, according to work plans, work orders and specifications.
• Recognize and decode construction plans, all relevant drawings and work orders, in cooperation with the team.
• Ensure availability of material parts and resources needed to accomplish own assignment.
• Prepare all relevant tools, machines and parts according to the defined sample plans, produce and/or assemble series of parts, components, products, systems or tools.
• Perform sight checks, functionality or quality test routines, and take over respective documentation.
• Support and cooperate with accountable Project Manager or Engineers in the analyses of samples.

Your Qualifications

• Vocationally trained in Electronics, Mechanics
• 3 to 5 years

OR

• Undergraduate Degree in Electronics, Mechanics
• 3 to 5 years

Define machining sequences and production work orders

Assemble and prepare tools and equipment for further usage during the production process

Prepares, completes and installs tools and/or clamping devices, enters processing data and simulates production process

Operates work order related production program, checks results and corrects program if necessary

Control and document work order progress, problems, machine time, materials used and may oversee activities of auxiliary personnel

Carry out minor maintenance work and cooperation with maintenance to identify and to resolve failures Follow all safety and production rules and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
