Job description

Position: Tech Lead

Department: Inspection

Pay Grade: NE10

Shift: E Shift (7:30 AM – 7:45 PM, 2–2–3 days)

I. Position Summary

Technical leaders focus on the technical aspects of the production process, verifying correct setup and changeover, resolving production or equipment problems, and reviewing quality of work.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor or Area Manager.
  • Assist with product changeover, set up production equipment, and verify safety equipment functionality per GAMP and SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Inspect production for quality and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Monitor SPC charts and use precision measuring instruments to perform quality checks.
  • Maintain inventory of job materials and ensure operators have adequate raw materials and supplies.
  • Confirm accurate computer entry of ticket information.
  • Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
  • Write work orders and update the journal at shift end.
  • Enforce safety regulations and company policies.
  • Follow work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Train operators as needed.
  • Measure and record data associated with operating equipment; advise or train employees in the area.
  • Operate production equipment as required.
  • Assist engineers with developing, building, or testing prototypes, new products, or processes.
  • Input maintenance work orders through the Maximo system.
  • Participate in PM, MMOL, G5S, and Kaizen activities as needed.
  • Follow all EMS procedures, including waste disposal and used materials handling.

IV. Required and Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum six months manufacturing/warehousing experience or equivalent.
  • CRC Bronze or above.
  • Language: Ability to read, write, and interpret safety and operational documents; write reports; present information.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic and conversion across units.
  • Reasoning: Solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Preferred: Forklift and Pallet Jack licenses; database, inventory, manufacturing, spreadsheet, and word‑processing software knowledge; Certified Production Technician program completion.
V. Physical Demands
  • Stand, sit, walk, reach, and use hands regularly; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Lift or move up to 50 lbs; occasionally use a pallet jack for 400–500 lbs.
  • Occasionally pass vision, hearing, respirator fitting, and spirometry tests.
VI. Work Environment
  • Exposure to moisture, moving parts, fumes, chemicals, weather, heat, or vibration.
  • Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels.
VII. Safety Requirements / PPE
  • Safety shoes, hearing, head, and eye protection as required.
  • Respirators or full‑face respirators as needed.
